Rod Olson

Rod Olson engaged in a period of self-discovery by pursuing short- and long-term relationships with men. Toward the end of this period he fell into addiction, losing relationships, his career, friends, money, health, hope, and the ability to love in the process. With nowhere to turn, he entered a 12-step recovery program. This program, along with the gospel, saved Rodís life and gave him renewed faith in Jesus Christ. Rod is now active in the Church and rejoices in his testimony of the restored gospel.

Rod, thank you for sharing. I too feel I have not lived this life in the ideal circumstances for me; but also know my Heavenly Father loves me, as He does you and all the rest of His children. You have taken a road less traveled and are truly a voice of hope for those who love the Lord and want to follow Him. Just remember His promises are sure. Even though it has been a long time, I feel honored to know you, and now your story. Thank you for being so courageous. Ruth

D&C 101:36 Wherefore, fear not even unto death; for in this world your joy is not full, but in me your joy is full. (video marker 50:30) Thanks Rod. I appreciate your testimony.

Listening to your testimony evokes within my imagination the image of a well-worn, yet intricately detailed, sculpture. Truly a work of art, magnificently created and yet somehow, through the passage of time and experience, greatly refined and hallowed. Thank you so much for sharing your inspiring story.

Rod,first off, it's great to get to know more about you. I really appreciate you sharing your story. I really like that beach ball analogy. It IS tiring to hide or ignore who we are. I am amazed and inspired with the analogies you have made to the gospel and to those who have gone before. You're an amazing example to me and to many others...an example of an authentic, covenant keeping gay Mormon!

Enjoyed your sharing your story and testimony. It got cut off a little, but I appreciate your desire to be a disciple. Like you I desire to live the gospel, yet be authentic.

Thank you so much for what you have shared. Your words were very inspired. I learned more about life and how I need to live my life more than anything. We all face trials. I think what helped me lost is that we live the gospel because we know it is true despite the trials we go through. Would it be easier to live a different way? Maybe for a time, but we loose all happiness when we go through this like without Christ. Thanks again for sharing.

Rod, Thank you thank you so much for this. Thank you for sharing your experiences, amazing openness and wisdom, and so much of yourself and through it the hand of God. I have only known you through Facebook and of your story generally and greatly admired your readily apparent love of others, enjoyment of life, and now I feel like I know you and am that much more grateful for what you are give and share. The hope this gives me through your insight is just what I needed to hear, believe, and hopefully internalize. I pray the Lord is with you even more in your hours of need now and you know how much good you do and have done for me and others. Thank you.
